My Teaching Philosophy

What is education's ultimate goal? To equip students with the ability to apply their learning to their real world experience.

Thus, my philosophy of teaching mainly involves the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) and Comprehensive Input as both of these approaches work hand-in-hand to bring the real world into the classroom and provides students the language and confidence needed to apply their knowledge outside the classroom.

Language acquisition and learning occurs when students are relaxed and less stressed as purported by by Stephen Krashen's input hypothesis. For this reason, fostering a natural curiosity of the world where the student is also able to take responsibility of his/her learning is very important. I use Guided Discovery and Inquiry-based Learning whenever possible. Additional input may be used in the form of extended reading. I believe that these methods offer the best tools as it keeps the classroom environment active, relevant, and student-centered.
